Project summary

This residency supports Portuguese circus artist Inês Pinho in launching her international career as she completes her studies at ESACTO’Lido. Over a year-long process with residencies at “L’Européenne de Cirques” (FR), “MADn Circus Festival” (SP), and “Mostra Estufa” (PT), she will work on developing a new contemporary circus piece exploring confrontation and assertiveness including techniques from dance, juggling and acrobatics. Mentored artistically, technically, and entrepreneurially, and in collaboration with artist Giovanni Concato, Inês will deepen her research and creative work, building a sustainable path as a circus artist and woman creator. The project promotes exchange between Portuguese, Spanish, and French circus fields through creation, performance, workshops and dialogue.

Inês Pinho

Biography: Ines Pinho is a Portuguese contemporary circus artist whose work merges juggling, dance, and acrobatics into a unique form of visual storytelling. Exploring the expressive potential of body and object, Ines creates poetic universes, often drawn from an intuitive, subconscious listening. Embracing the absurd, her practice integrates natural elements, encouraging reflection and personal interpretation. Based in Toulouse and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Circus Arts at Esacto'Lido, she is exploring new artistic languages and crossdisciplinary techniques. Her more recent work includes Os Gatos Caem Sempre de Cara ou Como Salvar as Abelhas, A Ilha Elefante that won the Creativity Award at Gala Só Circo at Cúpula Circus Festival and Ligneis, co-created with Giovanni Concato.
