Project summary

Passage Festival (DK) partners with Barents Spektakel (NO) and Sommerwerft (DE) to support theatre artist Tom Bailey's 2-month, poetic, ritual-performance journey across northern Norway's borderlands in spring 2026. Building on his successful EFFEA Discovery residency, Tom explores borders through 4 lenses: geopolitical (Russia-Finland-Norway), indigenous Sami territories, animal migration geographies, and geological thresholds. Through landscape performance and community engagement, Tom creates a cumulative show from the journey itself - developed from encounters along the route. This innovative green touring model reaches audiences at 4 international festivals, 8 remote community performances, and many more through extensive digital documentation.
