Project summary

This duo performance by Italian artist Antonello Foddis, artists Martin Talaga (performer), Tomáš Procházka (director) creates a historical dialogue on queer emancipation. Through a hybrid of drag, dance, and documentary theatre, it intertwines the life of Lucy Salani—an Italian trans survivor of Dachau—, Romina Cecconi - historic trans activist, architect of the Gender Transition Law in Italy, with that of Countess Sonata Mondscheinová, a pioneering Czechoslovak drag figure. The work is a powerful human rights statement, conceived as an act of artistic resistance against the current oppressive political reality faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Slovakia and other EU countries experiencing growing hatred toward queer people. This work also develops a new genre: documentary drag performance
