Project summary

Four circus festivals want to give small-stage circus – quite literally: circus performed on 2x2 meters – plenty of space. How do throwing and catching become an act of care? Can a plant become a resonating body for precision? – At the CIRKL festival in Leuven, the jugglers and artists Lena Kautz and Nastasja Jagodić will spend two weeks structuring the research they have accumulated for their piece Bareroots. Hand positions, finely woven sequences, and somewhere in there, gardening; oscillating between dance and juggling. A performance built around principles of care and coexistence between people ... and plants. This is an opportunity to strengthen the ties between four circus festivals, and explore what’s possible with lots of cress, two feet, two hands, and a few white balls.
