Project summary

A research-based performance project exploring the profound connection between the industrial system — the factory — and the individual. It examines the human being as a social entity, a member of the family unit, and as a body — substance, matter, and form. The research begins by studying the industrialization of small to medium-sized towns, many of which were previously rural or sparsely populated. By analyzing a variety of geographic contexts, the investigation traces the evolution from metallurgy into other sectors — textiles, manufacturing, food production — seeking both commonalities and distinctions. The primary focus is the 20th century, culminating with the digital revolution.

Silvia Viviani

Biography: Silvia Viviani (Mantua, 1988) began her theatrical training as an actress at the Accademia Teatrale Campogalliani. In 2008, following a scholarship, she was invited to the New York State Theatre Institute (NY, USA), where she focused on musical theatre and actively participated in the company’s productions. Since 2012, Silvia has been active in Slovenia. Silvia has been exploring ways to actively and simultaneously utilize the two languages that best characterize this phase of her life in what she defines as “active bilingualism” in theatre. Her research is more than active and in the last years her focus shifted on developing new projects on dynamics of space and people, in specific effect of industrial changings in space and therefore on humans and small to medium communities.
