Project summary

Encounterpoint brings together three outstanding young European artists who share a practice that spans both classical and jazz musical languages. They will work in residence on original compositions and repertoire, and will present concerts and educational workshops focused on music inspired by J. S. Bach and Nina Simone, who herself expressed deep inspiration from Bach.

Encounterpoint: Hayoung Choi, Noé Clerc & Anthony Caillet

Biography: The trio met for the first time in 2024.
Hayoung Choi is a Korean-German cellist born in 1998, known as a soloist and the first-prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. She is also a composer, jazz cellist, and drummer.
Noé Clerc, a French accordionist who studied classical music at the Paris Conservatory, was named “Jazz revelation” of 2023 by Jazz Magazine.
Anthony Caillet, an award-winning tuba player in classical and jazz fields, is acclaimed for his unique virtuosity.
The trio works on the composition of the members and arrangements for this unique musical formation.
