Project summary
In "P O W E R," artist Sarah Vella leads an artistic research and collaborative exploration into personal narratives of inner resilience and strength. Through research encounters with local women and a multidisciplinary artistic collaboration between Germany and Malta, the project aims to a) sensitively explore the universal human experiences of overcoming adversity; b) inspire and empower communities to embrace their inner strength and resilience; and c) enable a dialogue between the artist and the festival partners on the needs and considerations of artists working with communities within festival settings.

Sarah Vella
Biography:
Sarah Vella is a dance artist/choreographer, dance/movement therapist (BTD), speech and language pathologist (Bsc. Hons) and alternative practitioner for psychotherapy (HeilPrG) from Malta. Her artistic practice involves solo and collaborative creation as well as performance. As a community artist and dance/movement therapist, Sarah leads various group and one-to-one sessions, including community projects, in clinics, schools and with a variety of communities and age groups. She also specialises in working with individuals suffering from mental health issues and learning disabilities. In Malta, Sarah has also co-founded Hale - body+mind: a space for well-being - therapy, creative arts, assessments, consultations, workshops and more.
