Project summary

The proposed residency project plans to offer a work space to deepen the musical work of various Italian women composers of the Baroque as Barbara Strozzi, Maddalena Casulana and Isabella Leonarda. The project is specified in: 1. The realisation of an artistic residency where, for four days, the musical ensemble will work on the work of several Italian women composers of the Baroque. A concert programme will come out of this residency. 2. The performance of concerts at the Cistermusica (Portugal), Fontfroide (France) and Jordi Savall Festival (Catalonia) festivals where the ensemble shows the public the result of the artistic residency. 3. The production of photographs and audiovisuals of the work process in order to explain the content and results of the artistic residency.

Biography: After having completed their studies and initiated their individual careers in different european and american institutions, the paths of the members of the group crossed in Barcelona, where they had all arrived to deepen their training in historical performance practice on period instruments. This gathering, along with the desire of creating a space of their own where to experiment their own ideas and prospects, gave birth to the ensemble The Ministers of Pastime. Besides their training in institutions like Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona), Koninklijk Conservatorium (The Hague), Conservatorio Alessandro Scarlatti (Palermo) or Abbaye aux Dames (Saintes), the members of the ensemble have collaborated in some of the most renowned groups of the historically informed performa
