Project summary

Aurelia is currently working on her sound-renewal project focusing on reggae and Ghanaian/Nordic traditional fusion. That will crystallise in newly released songs, as well as the project and live experience "Community carries legacy" with the big band AVENUE. Live experience - Community Carries Legacy Aurelia Dey, her dancers and live band “AVENUE” present ”Community Carries Legacy” which is an Afro-futuristic holistic performance with themes of identity, legacy and healing, in collaboration with the artists Brendah Henrysson and Danait Abraham, actors Segen Tesfai and Astrid Assefa. Coaching sessions will be held with the curators Ellen Nyman and Barbara Asante. With Avenue, they create a unique musical experience - with Highlife, Afrobeat, Reggae, Nordic & Ghanaian folk music, Afrobeats and Dancehall boiled down in a completely new dramaturgical process. They present therapeutic content in a blissful mix between heavy bass, decisive toasting, energetic dance and spiritual soul singing in a safe and welcoming context.

Biography: Aurelia Dey is a professional dancer, actor, and recording artist, who specializes in world music, reggae, roots, dancehall, afrobeats, ghanaian and swedish folk music.<br />Though she was born and raised in Mölndal (which is located right outside Gothenburg) in Sweden, both of her parents are from West Africa, specifically Ghana.<br />Aurelia Dey is a multi-artistic force that do afrobeats, dancehall, reggae and Ghanaian/Nordic traditional fusion, acting and choreographs. She sheds light on mental and physical health and creates an awareness about diversity and inclusion packaged in a female identity with Ghanaian and Swedish heritage. “Sunday Service” is her latest album and toured concert experience. She lectures on diversity and inclusion from an Afro-Swedish perspective for companies, young people and writes scripts for both TV and film.
