Amélia Fonseca (“adufe” & singing), who is one of the mythic “Adufeiras de Monsanto”, holding a unique interpretation of playing the Portuguese traditional framedrum “ADUFE”, from which the leading festival ENCONTROS MED draws its inspiration and which is also the symbol of the Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova. Ensemble Med

Biography: Ensemble Med [med: mediterrânean/medieval] is a music performing-research lab aiming at exploring the limits between Early Music and World Music, searching their own living and actual interpretation, in a multicultural mindset.
The Ensemble started in 2012 in the Netherlands, having performed there and in Portugal, France, Turkey and Georgia. They gained a new scope with singer Mariana Fabião (2018), having performed “Intercultural Dialogue in the Medieval Mediterranean” programme, presented in several venues in Portugal, e.g. Casa da Música Porto, Museu do Oriente Lisbon (Live Antena2), and in France (Maison du Portugal, Paris) and Izmir, Turkey (Synagogue of Bet Israel), co-funded by DGARTES. They were also awarded with the Oporto City Council “Shuttle” Programme and Ibermúsicas (Minas Gerais, August 2023). They’ve worked with Early Music specialists Maurício Molina and Adrian Rodriguez van der Spoel in special electronics/early music commissions for online concerts (2020/2021).
