Project summary

Catalysi is an experiment in giving visibility to artists who work in peripheral or deliberately concealed situations, for the sake of rigorous research in the performing arts. Societas will make its theatre available, along with its tools and resources, entrusting a young curator (Guillermo de Cabanyes, 28 years old) with constructing a residency and a festival that reaches out to artists who do not fall within mainstream channels. Among them, he chose one (Stefania Rovatti, 35 years old) for a 15-day residency, accompanied by a seminar in criticism. The result will be integrated into the festival, coming into contact with debuting and more well-known artists, a wide audience and theatre directors, within a setting that promotes discussion between equals and without hierarchies.

Stefania Rovatti Compagnia Cospicua

Biography: Stefania Rovatti was born in Italy on 14 Nov 1987. She received an artistic education and she founded the Compagnia dei Tautofoni dedicated to the montage and performance of poetic texts combined with spatial research. She studied Communication and Performing Arts in Bologna, all the while experimenting with forms of space through the relationships between poetry, electronic music and action. In 2010, she attended a month-long residency dedicated to theatrical writing, directed by Claudia Castellucci. From 2014 to 2018, she attended Castellucci’s courses. She founded Cospicua with the intention of investigating the pervasiveness of language and designing rhythmic actions that connect elements through form, in synergy with music, reaching the currents and flows regulated by time and energy.
