Project summary

Bibata Ibrahim Maïga, Tchina Ndjidda, and Assanda Ruda are the 2021 laureates of the solo choreographic dance platform and competition “Africa Simply the Best”, initiated by choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly, founder of Faso Danse Théâtre and ANKATA. Placed under the sign of creativity, innovation, and originality, this pan-African cultural event rewards, every two years, the best African creators in solo choreographic work. Bibata and Tchina, European residents, will enable intercultural dialogue and exchange between the laureates, artists, and audiences while highlighting diversity and dance styles from different countries and regions. The dancer’s solo performances touch upon the regional pressures of society, conformity, and migration and raise awareness in a more global context.
