Project summary

The Frei Art Festival (DE), Festival 10 Sentidos (Valencia/ES), and Dance Festival Malta support the emerging dance duo Beatriz Mira & Tiago Barreiros in their new piece. These talented choreographers are given a residency where they receive guidance from Chantal Kohlmeyer, the programme director of FREI ART FESTIVAL, through a mentoring programme. This includes dramaturgical support, professional feedback, and encouragement to explore their artistic vision. They also have the opportunity to connect with the local dance and cultural scene, share their experiences through master classes, and showcase their work at the partner festivals. This includes the „Tanzplattform in Freiburg“, which will also take place in the premises of the FREI ART FESTIVAL in 2024.

Choreographic Duo Beatriz Mira and Tiago Barreiros

Biography: Beatriz Mira and Tiago Barreiros, talented dancers and emerging choreographers, integrated the Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo repertoire, premiering in Portugal in 2022. They performed at prestigious events like the Quinzena de Dança de Almada International Dance Festival and Seteais International Ballet Gala. Internationally, they showcased their work at RIDCC 2022 in Rotterdam, receiving the Dutch National Ballet Partner Award and an invitation to choreograph for their Junior Company in Amsterdam. Both juries recognized their exceptional choreographic skills and potential.
