Project summary

Rahel Talts will take part in three festivals as a performing artist – jazz pianist and composer – and during the festivals she and her band will have a chance to enjoy workshops, mentoring sessions, networking events, seminars by music professionals and introductions to the local music communities. The Rahel Talts quartet will perform at Sõru Jazz (Estonia), Sun Music (Lithuania) and Jazz à la Petite (France) festivals. Taking part in this project will expand Rahel's musical network massively, giving her exposure at the great festivals of jazz music, and allowing her to share her newest compositions with local music lovers, music experts and other musicians. During the residency the Rahel Talts quartet will gain new audiences, contacts and musical experience by creating new programmes.

Biography: Rahel Talts is a young Estonian jazz pianist and composer, who currently lives in Denmark.She has just finished the Danish National Academy of Music and obtained masters degree in composition and jazz piano. Rahel likes to write music for different combos, especially larger ensembles.She takes part in as a leader or a member in several bands and projects over Europe.She has her own 14-member band called Rahel Talts Ensemble with whom they released their first album in February 2022.Another combo that she leads is Rahel Talts Quartet with whom they have played concerts&tours in Denmark,Estonia and Lithuania and just recently released their first album “Greener Grass” (May 2023).Rahel loves to play traditional jazz and bebop,but she is also into modern melodic jazz with folk and fusion touch
